Lean Cuisine Sesame Chicken Review

Lean Cuisine Sesame Chicken

The Sesame Chicken by Lean Cuisine is a frozen take on a classic Asian dish.

The star of this show is the white meat chicken, which is breaded and drenched in a flavorful sesame sauce. The outside of the chicken has a little bit of a crunch to it, even when cooked in the microwave, and the inside is nice and tender. Clearly, Lean Cuisine put its heart and soul into the titular sesame chicken portion of this dish.

Unfortunately, the noodles, which make up a good portion of the rest of this meal, don’t fare so well. They have an oddly burned flavor to them, and they don’t mix well with the sesame sauce. This is mitigated a little bit with the addition of some crisp veggies, but even those feel a little too rubbery.

At 330 calories (80 from fat), this dish is very diet-friendly. The downside, of course, is the high sodium content. This is to be expected from a frozen stir fry dish, but even so, 640mg is quite a bit of sodium.

Lean Cuisine’s Sesame Chicken isn’t our favorite frozen meal by any means, but it’s a serviceable one. In fact, if they could solve the noodle problem, this has the potential to be a very satisfying dish.
