Evol Chicken Apple Sausage Scramble Cup Review

Evol Chicken Apple Sausage Scramble Cup

After chomping down Evol’s Egg, Uncured Bacon & Cheese Scramble Cup, we were a bit hesitant to further explore their Scramble Cup line. Since it’s our job at Freezer Meal Frenzy to review these things, we tested out the Chicken Apple Sausage Scramble Cup. Thankfully, we enjoyed this one quite a bit more than the Uncured Bacon version.

In a lot of ways, these two Scramble Cups are opposites. Where the Uncured Bacon skimps on the actual bacon, the Chicken Apple Sausage has a pretty good amount of sausage. And that sausage tastes quite good.

It’s surrounded by tomatoes and onions, which really make the flavor pop here. The obvious choice may have been bell peppers, like the Uncured Bacon Scramble, but the tomatoes add a sweetness that complements the sausage quite well.

Of course, there is a huge helping of potatoes, though they don’t dominate the flavor due to the sausage and tomato combo. On top of it all is a layer of white cheddar cheese and cheese sauce, which keeps everything together structurally and provides a good cheesy consistency.

The one complaint we have is a repeat of a complaint we made about the Uncured Bacon version; once cooked, the cup is about half full, which makes this a meal you might want to have two of. But at only 160 calories (45 from fat), doubling up is something you can probably afford to do here. In fact, according to Evol’s website, this is considered part of their Lean & Fit line (it’s also printed on the packaging, but it’s small and out of the way so you might not even notice it).

We found ourselves pleasantly surprised by Evol’s Chicken Apple Sausage Scramble Cup, and it’s a dish we hope to revisit in the very near future.
