Judging by the image on the package, one might expect Amy’s Cheese Pizza Toaster Pops to be a bit like a Hot Pocket. This actually isn’t the case; these things are almost more comparable to a pizza-filled Pop Tart. That’s not to say they’re frosted or sweet, but the amount of filling is about as thin as a Pop Tart’s.
Of course, that filling is similar to what you’d find in Amy’s Cheese Pizza Snacks — a mix of tomato puree, mozzarella cheese, and spices — so it’s delicious.
Also delicious is the unbleached wheat shell. Amy’s always knocks it out of the park with their unbleached wheat products; the Mushroom and Cheese Swirls are particularly great. The Toaster Pops are no exception. The crust is also dusted in a fine flour powder, which makes your hands a little messy but is very pleasant to eat.
If you have a toaster oven, that’s the preferable way to cook these, since they can get a little crumbly for a toaster. It’s no fun to have to go diving into the toaster slots to find the bottom half of your pizza pop!
While we would have liked a bit more filling, Amy’s Cheese Pizza Toaster Pops make for a great little snack.
