Lean Cuisine Cheese Ravioli Review

Lean Cuisine Cheese Ravioli

Recently, our staff has sampled some very interesting ravioli dishes. We loved the intriguing flavor combinations and unique fillings these dishes had to offer. After all that, going back to standard cheese-filled ravioli dishes felt a little disappointing. Still, Lean Cuisine’s Cheese Ravioli proves there’s still a place for old-fashioned favorites.

This ravioli isn’t quite restaurant quality, but it’s a big step up from what you’d find in a can. Canned and microwaved ravioli is often mushy, but these noodles have the perfect al dente texture. The filling is made from low-fat ricotta cheese, but you wouldn’t know that without reading the box; it’s wonderfully rich and creamy.

Best of all is the tomato sauce. The box says it’s made with vine-ripened tomatoes, and it’s easy to believe that. There are big chunks of tasty, fresh tomato scattered throughout the sauce.

That said, some people might feel that there is too much sauce and not enough tomato. It’s true that the dish only contains six ravioli noodles, but that was enough to fill the stomachs of our reviewers. To us, the extra sauce was a plus, not a minus; it’s great to have extra sauce to dip the ravioli in.

Cheese ravioli isn’t as exotic as ravioli made from asparagus or butternut squash, but it can still be pretty appetizing. If you’re a fan of classic ravioli, this low-fat dish is something you’ll want to sample. It may not be fancy, but it is fun to eat.
