Sweet Earth Pad Thai Review

Sweet Earth Pad Thai

The Freezer Meal Frenzy staff loves Thai food, and Pad Thai is one of our favorite dishes. When we order takeout, we frequently request this noodle dish. We were excited to see Pad Thai in the Sweet Earth frozen food lineup, but this meal was a disappointment on nearly every level.

The biggest issue with Sweet Earth’s Pad Thai is probably the tofu. It tastes incredibly bland, and we couldn’t even fix it by smearing it with soy sauce. On its own, tofu is practically tasteless, and this dish didn’t have enough flavor to cover that up. To make things worse, the texture is kind of rubbery.

The texture of the vegetables also feels off. The bell peppers are fine, but the carrots aren’t as crunchy as we expected; it feels like they’d been cooked a little too long. According to the box, there are shiitake mushrooms in this dish, but we couldn’t really taste them.

Thankfully, the rice noodles are just fine. The soy sauce doesn’t have the kind of kick we were hoping for, but the noodles have an appealing texture. If this dish were paired with a better sauce — and better vegetables — it might be pretty tasty.

Thai food is great, but this dish isn’t. If you’re in the mood for Thai, try Amy’s Thai Curry instead; it has the flavor we expect from Thai cuisine.
