Udi’s Uncured Bacon Breakfast Burrito Review

Udi's Uncured Bacon Breakfast Burrito

Udi’s provides a pretty hefty line of gluten-free frozen foods, and we decided to take their Uncured Bacon Breakfast Burrito for a test drive.

The directions on this burrito’s package say to wrap the burrito in a moist paper towel before heating, but we found that a dry paper towel works much better. There’s less of a chance the shell will get soggy, though even when the paper towel is dry, the burrito will be a little bit soggy when it comes out of the microwave. It will also have a strange texture.

The filling is made with a combination of eggs, roasted potatoes, cheeses, and veggies. And, of course, the uncued bacon. The bacon portion is so small you’re likely to not even notice it’s there, while the rest of the filling tastes halfway decent but leaves a strange aftertaste.

For the size, which is pretty tiny, it does contain a fair amount of calories, at 250 (90 from fat). It won’t leave you feeling full, so those calories start adding up pretty fast when you start pairing this with snacks.

While it’s always great to find gluten-free meals, Udi’s Uncured Bacon Breakfast Burrito just doesn’t do a whole lot to rise above mediocrity. We tend to find Udi’s excels best at pasta-based dishes. Try their Penne & Cheese or Pesto Tortellini and you’ll see what we mean. But if you’re looking for a tasty breakfast, you’ll probably want to try a different brand. For instance, Evol makes a line of breakfast scramble cups, and some of them are even gluten-free.
