We love the concept behind Amy’s Light & Lean line. While Amy’s Kitchen has always offered healthy frozen meals, the Light & Lean dishes cut the fat — literally — and provide meals that are perfect for dieters. Unfortunately, most of these meals simply can’t compare to the standard Amy’s dishes.

We found the Light & Lean Pasta & Veggies¬†to be adequate; no more, no less. Nothing about it was particularly bad, but there wasn’t anything that made it stand out either. It was a simple, basic pasta dish that we could easily make at home.

Like most Amy’s Kitchen’s meals, this dish had plenty of high-quality ingredients. We weren’t overly impressed with the pasta, but the veggies were fresh and well-seasoned. The texture was absolutely perfect; both the broccoli¬†and the asparagus had the perfect amount of crunch. We would have appreciated more tomatoes — or a little more cheese — but the ingredients that were present were pretty great.

If you’re being very careful about what you eat, this meal might make for a good lunch or dinner. It won’t blow you away, but the dish tastes perfectly fine. If you’re not on a strict diet, you’ll want to enjoy one of Amy’s standard dishes instead. Amy’s Light & Lean Pasta & Veggies meal is only worth eating if you’re struggling to cut calories from your diet.
