The Freezer Meal Frenzy staff just can’t resist a good mushroom dish. We know that mushrooms aren’t for everyone, but we enthusiastically welcome them in our meals. Needless to say, the Healthy Choice Portabella Spinach Parmesan Steamer was a big hit with our crew.

Of course, mushrooms aren’t the only thing to love about this meal. Like all meals in Healthy Choice’s Caf√©¬†Steamers line, the sauce is heated separately from the rest of the pasta, then stirred into the dish before it’s ready to be eaten.

This definitely improves a dish like this. The white wine sauce is delicious, but it has a pretty strong flavor. Cooking the sauce separately from the other ingredients allows each ingredient to shine.

Obviously, the mushrooms are our favorite part of this dish, but the pasta and vegetables are great too. We especially love the blend of red peppers and tomatoes. Even though this meal was heated in the microwave, the peppers tasted like they came straight from a pan. The quality of the spinach is excellent too; it isn’t mushy or stringy at all.

Microwaveable pasta can sometimes be hard or chewy, but this pasta has the ideal texture. We appreciate that it was made from whole grain wheat flour, which makes the dish healthier and improves its overall flavor. There’s a discernible wheat flavor that blends beautifully with the plump mushrooms and wine sauce.

If you’re looking for a healthy, low-calorie meal, and you love mushrooms as much as we do, this is a microwave dinner that you need to try. It’s incredibly filling for a 230-calorie meal, and the quality of the ingredients is very high.
