Tandoor Chef Kofta Curry with Channa Masala & Spinach Basmati Pilaf Review

Tandoor Chef Kofta Curry

While the Freezer Meal Frenzy staff has sampled all kinds of frozen curries, we’ve never had the opportunity to try kofta in a frozen dish before. Kofta, a type of dumpling made from garbanzo beans, is a favorite of ours so we were hoping  the Tandoor Chef Kofta Curry with Channa Masala & Spinach Basmati Pilaf would impress us.

It definitely managed to live up to our expectations.

The meal isn’t overflowing with kofta; we only had three dumplings in our tray. While we would have appreciated more dumplings, we also have to admit that the meal was very filling as is. If we’d had more kofta, we might not had room to enjoy the other elements of this dish!

Tandoor Chef Kofta Curry

Both the chana masala and the curry are loaded with flavor. There’s some kick to the curry, but the spiciness isn’t overpowering. The spinach pilaf is a little bland at first bite, but it blends beautifully with both the curry and chana masala. The texture of the pilaf is excellent; a taste-tester would never guess that it was microwaved.

Because this is a substantial meal, we were expecting it to be high in calories. We were pleasantly surprised to see this meal clock in at 400 calories. This may not be the ideal choice for a light lunch, but it’s a great option if you’re looking for a filling frozen dinner.

We’re big fans of both kofta and Tandoor Chef. We’re glad we got to enjoy both things with this meal. Tandoor Chef really knows what they’re doing when it comes to frozen Indian food. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
