Smart Ones Pasta with Ricotta and Spinach

Sometimes, a light pasta dish is just what the doctor ordered. That’s the idea behind Smart Ones’ Pasta with Ricotta and Spinach, which weighs in at a measly 290 calories. Since this is a Weight Watchers product, the SmartPoints value is stamped on the side of the box. This frozen meal is worth 9 SmartPoints.

The first thing we noticed when we cracked this meal open is just how much spinach there is inside. This isn’t just a sprinkling of spinach bits; it’s a pretty good helping. We won’t go quite as far as to say this is a Popeye level of spinach, but it’s not skimpy by any means.

And that fact is even more clear when you pull this out of the microwave and the odor of spinach hits your nostrils. This dish reeks of spinach — literally!

The ribbon pasta is a nice shape, and it comes doused in a cream sauce with a ricotta cheese blend. The sauce has a cheesy, garlicky flavor, though it’s buried beneath the taste of all that spinach. If you’re looking for a spinach-heavy dish, this is going to be right up your alley.

With such a nice portion of pasta, we definitely expected this to be a bit more filling than it actually is. We were still pretty hungry after eating this, and we found ourselves wishing for a larger helping.

The Smart Ones Pasta with Ricotta and Spinach is a winner, especially if you like spinach. Be warned, however, that it’s not the most filling meal on the market. If you have this set aside as a diet lunch, you might want to pack some baby carrots or celery on the side to fill you up.
