365 Everyday Value Chicken & Blueberry Breakfast Sausage Review

365 Everyday Value Chicken & Blueberry Breakfast Sausage

If you’ve ever taken a stroll through the freezer aisle at any Whole Foods, then you’re surely familiar with the 365 Everyday Value brand. (This brand makes more than just frozen food, of course, but since Freezer Meal Frenzy deals almost exclusively with frozen food, that’s what we’re focusing on here.)

We’ve tried some of their breakfast sausage links before, so we were interested in seeing how the 365 Everyday Value Chicken & Blueberry Breakfast Sausage Links taste. This is quite an interesting flavor combo for a breakfast sausage.

Ours came sealed in a package of ten, and we assume this is a normal pack. (When we tried the Savory Chicken Breakfast Sausage, those links came in a package of ten as well, so we assume that most of 365 Everyday Value’s sausage packages contain ten links.)

We learned a while back that breakfast sausage links just don’t work very well when cooked in the microwave, so we skipped the microwave and went straight for the skillet. The skillet instructions ask you to cook these with about 1/3 cup of water. That seems like too much water at first, but we assure you it isn’t. All that water evaporates pretty quickly, and the links absorb a good deal of water too — by the time these are done cooking, your skillet will be dry as a bone.

So after all that, how do these turn out?

Well, the chicken sausage has a great savory flavor, which we really enjoy. Then there are whole blueberries mixed into the sausage, giving this some sweetness that complements the chicken sausage pretty well. These links taste great when dipped in just a little maple syrup, but they’re also perfectly fine on their own.

Our only real complaint here is that we’re just not fans of the consistency. We’ve mentioned this before, but 365 Everyday Value’s breakfast sausage links are a bit rubbery, which makes them hard to chew. It can sometimes feel like chewing doesn’t really do much to these resilient little links.

A serving size is three links, as these are designed to be the protein side for a larger breakfast rather than a full meal on their own. Three links contain 110 calories and about 250 mg of sodium. This really isn’t that bad — just keep in mind that the sodium level is a little high for the size of these things. A full box will put you over 1,000 mg.

The 365 Everyday Value Chicken & Blueberry Breakfast Sausage Links are very good. While the consistency might be a little off, the flavor is definitely on point. These make a great side for a hearty pancake breakfast.
