Trader Joe’s Mini Vegetable Samosas Review

Trader Joe's Mini Vegetable Samosas

While samosas are traditionally associated with India, this food actually originated in the Middle East. The name samosa comes from samsa, which is the Persian word for pyramid. But no matter where they come from, these savory stuffed pastries are an undeniably awesome treat. We’ve been impressed with the frozen samosas we’ve tried in the past, and Trader Joe’s is continuing the trend. Their Mini Vegetable Samosas are incredibly tasty.

As you can see in the image below, these samosas are a little on the small side; you could easily polish them off in two bites. Thankfully, there are 12 samosas in each box, which means there are enough to share. After about 12 minutes in the oven at 400 degrees, our samosas were ready to eat.

Typically, samosas are served with a condiment like chutney. These samosas, however, are flavorful enough to eat on their own. The pastry crust is very thin, and each samosa is packed with spicy seasoned vegetables. We’re delightfully surprised by how much food Trader Joe’s can pack into a single samosa!

These samosas are also incredibly addictive. Because they’re so small, it’s easy to convince yourself to keep eating just one more. According to the label, a serving consists of 4 samosas. That said, a hungry eater could easily polish off an entire box by themselves.

Even though Trader Joe’s Mini Vegetable Samosas are fantastic, we think they’re better as an appetizer than a meal. They’re small and low in protein, which means they’re not that filling on their own. They’d also make an excellent side dish; they’d pair beautifully with fried rice or a lentil stew. These samosas might not be the ideal dinner, but they are delicious, and we definitely plan on trying them again.
