Sweet Earth Truffle Lover’s Pizza Review

Sweet Earth Truffle Lover's Pizza

When Sweet Earth joined the battle for the perfect frozen pizza, they really went in with guns blazing. We recently tried their Veggie Lover’s Pizza, and it was nothing short of amazing. As huge fans of mushrooms, we here at Freezer Meal Frenzy owed it to ourselves to try the Sweet Earth Truffle Lover’s Pizza.

Now, this is a pretty easy pizza to cook. Simply preheat the oven to 425 degrees fahrenheit, then pop this thing in for about 16 minutes. That’s all it takes. (Unlike some of the other frozen pizzas on the market, this one cannot be cooked in the microwave.) We should probably warn you that this smells so good when it’s cooking that you’re going to be tempted to pull it out early!

That smell comes primarily from the combination of the caramelized onion truffle sauce and the garlic. We can confirm that this combo tastes as good as it smells. The sauce is phenomenal. It’s not a red sauce, but a garlic-y spread that almost tastes like a mushroom broth. Considering this pizza is made to please lovers of the mushroom, this is a good choice here.

And, of course, this pizza is loaded up with organic mushrooms. We’re not sure what type of mushroom this is, since the box only refers to this pizza’s mushroom content as “earthy mushrooms.” We’re going to go out on a limb and say these are probably portobellos. To add to that “earthy” flavor, there are also gobs of spinach here. And we’re not joking here — this thing comes with a heaping pile of spinach. Popeye would weep tears of joy.

The cheese blend is gruyère, romano, and mozzarella. So instead of the typical stretchy stuff, this has a slight hint of bitterness to it, which complements the mushrooms quite well. We heartily approve of this cheese mix!

The crust is extra crispy. We cooked our pizza for about two extra minutes to give it that crispiness, so we ended up with some mega-crispy crust. If you like your pizza with some crunch, we recommend giving it a couple extra minutes in the oven.

We’ve said this before, but we always find it puzzling when 1/3 of a pizza is listed as the suggested serving size rather than a half. We imagine that splitting a pie two ways is probably the most common way to enjoy a frozen pizza. So we’re going to have to bust out our trusty calculator and do a little math here to make sure we get the nutrition info correct.

One serving size contains 280 calories (110 from fat) and 360 mg of sodium. That means a full pizza has 840 calories (330 from fat) and 1,080 mg of sodium, while a half pizza has 420 calories (165 from fat) and 540 mg of sodium. All things considered, this pizza isn’t all that unhealthy as long as you don’t eat more than half of it in a single sitting.

The Sweet Earth Truffle Lover’s Pizza is the stuff of dreams. No, seriously. If you’ve never dreamed of a delicious pizza, it’s only because you’ve never tried this one. If you love mushrooms and you love pizza, this Sweet Earth frozen pizza is going to drive you wild.
