Gorgonzola may sound like a character from a Godzilla movie, but it’s actually a type of veined blue cheese. The cheese is known for its strong and unpleasant smell, but it’s also famous for its delicious flavor. So when we spotted Trader Joe’s Gnocchi al Gorgonzola, we knew we were in for a treat.

Like other Trader Joe’s frozen gnocchi dishes, this meal is a breeze to prepare. The only thing you really have to do is throw it in a pan and stir until it’s cooked through. Even if you have no skills in the kitchen, you’ll be able to cook up this gnocchi without any problems.

When we took our first bite, we were slightly disappointed. It didn’t taste bad — the sauce was nice and creamy, and the gnocchi was appealingly doughy — but something was missing. After a quick glance at the picture bag, we realized what the meal needed. We added a few shakes of pepper, and the meal finally came together.

Once the pepper is added, you’re left with an incredibly addictive gnocchi dish. The pepper really brings out the unique flavor of the gorgonzola — it takes the meal from decent to delicious. Trader Joe’s says that there are three servings per bag, but if you’re not careful, you could wind up downing the entire bag yourself.

If you do decide to try Trader Joe’s Gnocchi al Gorgonzola, we strongly encourage you to add a bit of pepper. Even though the label says that the meal already includes black pepper, it benefits from some extra kick. As long as you’re willing to add some pepper, this is a meal that we can recommend heartily.
