Dr. Praeger’s Broccoli Cakes Review

Dr. Praeger's Broccoli Cakes

Even though Dr. Praeger’s Broccoli Littles were designed for kids, they won the hearts of our adult staffers. We couldn’t help but love the cute shapes, and it didn’t hurt that the crispy broccoli treats were absolutely delicious. When we spotted Dr. Praeger’s Broccoli Cakes, an adult-friendly version of the same snack, we knew we had to try them out.

The differences between these two treats were clear as soon as we opened our box. The cakes are shaped like circles, not dinosaurs, and each one is individually packaged. They’re also larger and thicker than the Broccoli Littles; these could easily be part of a filling meal.

Once we unwrapped our broccoli cakes, cooking them up was an easy process. We simply preheated the oven to 450 degrees fahrenheit, then we  stuck some broccoli cakes on a cookie sheet and popper them into the oven. We gave them a god flip about five minutes in, and then let them cook for a few minutes longer before taking them out of the oven. We followed the box’s instructions and wound up with cakes that were perfectly browned.

While we’re biased towards the “Littles” because of their adorable shapes, we have to admit that these cakes are tastier. They have a thick, patty-like shape that allows you to really savor the taste and texture of each cake. It feels great to bite into a crispy broccoli cake and enjoy the soft mix of potatoes and broccoli on the inside.

We chose to eat these cakes plain, but we can imagine serving them in all kinds of ways. Add a small bun and some toppings, and they’d make great sliders. Pair them with a filling vegetable side dish, like Trader Joe’s Creamy Polenta with Spinach and Carrots, and you’ve got yourself a satisfying and nutrient-rich meal. Dip them in ranch dressing, and you have a filling snack.

If you’re trying to feed a kid who’s a picky eater, Dr. Praeger’s Broccoli Littles are probably your best bet. However, if you’re an adult that loves veggies, Dr. Praeger’s Broccoli Cakes are a better option. They may not be shaped like dinosaurs, but that doesn’t make them any less delicious.
