We enjoy all kinds of root vegetables, but there’s a special place in our hearts for sweet potatoes. They’re loaded with nutrients, they taste amazing, and they can be used to make all kinds of products, including molasses and postage stamp glue. We also love food that comes in adorable shapes.
When you add all that up, it’s clear that we simply had no choice but to try Dr. Praeger’s Sweet Potato Littles. We owed it to ourselves to sample these, and we owed it to our readers to write about what we thought.
We found a total of five shapes in our box of littles: stars, bears, and three types of dinosaur-like creatures. Unfortunately, we had a slight mishap when transferring one of our dinos from the pan to our plate, which means we had to re-attach his head. These snacks are extremely soft when they come out of the oven. If you want to keep your shapes intact, you’ll need to show a little extra caution.
In spite of our minor mishap, we found these treats to be an enormous success on the flavor front. They’re definitely sweet, but not in a sugary way. There’s a little bit of a savory undertone that makes these snacks extremely addictive. We were shocked by how quickly we polished our plate off. We think these littles would taste great with ketchup or barbeque sauce, but they’re still amazing without any condiments at all.
When you’re serving this sweet potato snacks, you may want to hand out forks. Our potato bites were a little greasy when they came out of the oven. That grease only enhanced their flavor, but it could make for a messy meal. If you forgo the forks, make sure you’ve got plenty of napkins on hand.
Dr. Praeger’s Sweet Potato Littles are good enough to win over anyone, from picky kids to persnickety adults. If you’re trying to feed a vegetable hater, you really can’t go wrong with these potato treats. They’re packed with nutrients, sweetly delicious, and are easy on the eyes too.
