Trader Joe’s Fettuccine Alfredo Review

Trader Joe's Fettuccine Alfredo

Made from egg and flour, fettuccine is a flat, thick pasta that pairs perfectly with creamy sauces. Fettuccine Alfredo is a rich, comforting pasta that even the pickiest of eaters can enjoy. So when we spotted Trader Joe’s Fettuccine Alfredo, we knew we had to give this dish a try.

Like most of Trader Joe’s frozen pastas, we cooked this dish on the stovetop. The process is simple and extremely fast; we had a hot dish of food in a matter of minutes. Even though we only added a few tablespoons of water, the fettuccine noodles had the perfect al dente texture.

This is a basic, bare-bones fettuccine, and if you eat it as is, you may find that it’s on the plain side. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of ways to spice this dish up. We added a smattering of pepper, and we were very happy with the results. We also think that this dish would be great with mushrooms, shrimp, or your favorite sausage.

While we were happy about the quality of this meal, we’re not sure we agree with Trader Joe’s on the number of servings in a bag. Trader Joe’s claims that there are three servings per package, but as you can see in the image above, there’s not enough food here to feed three people. You can easily stretch this into two meals by adding an extra ingredient or two, but you’ll need quite a few sides if you want to feed three people with one of these bags.

Of course, larger servings also mean more calories, and if you eat a whole bag of this stuff, you’re taking the acceptable calorie count of 240 (for one serving) and turning that into 720 (for three servings). Yikes!

Even though the serving sizes aren’t substantial, this is an appealing pasta dish that can easily be customized to your liking. Whether you add spices, meat, vegetables, or even an egg, you’ll be able to do a lot with Trader Joe’s Fettuccine Alfredo.
