Marie Callender’s Creamy Vermont Mac & Cheese Bowl Review

Marie Callender's Creamy Vermont Mac & Cheese Bowl

It’s definitely possible to mess up mac & cheese, but the majority of cheesy dishes we sample are delicious. Cheese and pasta is a wonderful combination that we’d gladly eat on any day of the week. Marie Callender’s Creamy Vermont Mac & Cheese is a comforting and appealing take on this classic comfort food.

This dish does take a while to cook — ours took about six minutes — but all you really have to do is toss it the microwave and wait for it to finish. You don’t have to stir partway through, and you don’t even have to vent the mac and cheese. Of course, you’ll want to make sure you place a microwave-plate safe plate beneath the bowl as it heats; we had some cheese ooze out of the packaging.

While you might want to eat this right away, you’re going to have to give this meal some time to cool. It’ll be piping hot when it comes out of the microwave, and you’ll burn your mouth if you dig in right away. Since this is a fairly large bowl, it’s best to stir it so that all of the noodles have a chance to cool off.

Marie Callender's Creamy Vermont Mac & Cheese Bowl

This is an ultra-creamy mac & cheese dish with a very rich flavor. Marie Callender isn’t kidding when they say that the noodles are “smothered” in cheese; we took plenty of bites of cheddar and nothing else. The crumbs at the top make this taste a little bit more like homemade, oven-baked macaroni, which is a meal we love.

There are 570 calories in this bowl, which means it isn’t exactly diet-friendly. Still, it is very filling. This is made with enriched pasta, so there are 21 grams of protein in a serving. If you’re going to indulge in a dish like this, you won’t be tempted to snack on something else afterward.

We enjoyed the Marie Callender’s Creamy Vermont Mac & Cheese Bowl, and we’re looking forward to trying some of the other macaroni dishes in the Marie Callender’s line. We’ll never get sick of mac and cheese. It might not be the healthiest meal out there, but it’s delicious, comforting, and a lot of fun to eat.
