The Freezer Meal Frenzy staff is always excited when we spot new vegan meals in the frozen food aisle. While there are plenty of meatless frozen entrees available, vegan options can be hard to come by. The Gardein Chick’n Florentino Skillet Meal is certified vegan, and it’s also completely delicious.
As long as you have a stove and a skillet, cooking this meal is easy. You don’t have to do much more than toss it into a pan and stir. The meal does come with a sauce packet that’s meant to be thawed in a bowl of water. This is the only issue we encountered during the cooking process. Because this sauce packet is so large, hot water isn’t enough to completely thaw it out, so it still ends up in a big chunk in the pan. Thankfully, this didn’t pose an enormous problem. We wound up tossing the still frozen sauce into our skillet so that it could thaw there, and it ended being perfectly fine. In a few minutes, we had a finished meal that was steamy and delicious-looking.
This dish isn’t particularly complex, but it is very tasty. The sauce is reminiscent of Italian dressing, but it’s a little more thick and creamy than any Italian dressing that you’d find in a bottle. It’s nicely seasoned and has hints of both garlic and
The chicken has a slightly doughy taste and texture, but we didn’t mind that at all. It actually reminded us a tiny bit of gnocchi, which is a favorite of ours. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the small chunks of broccoli went well with the rest of the meal.
