Trader Joe’s Egg Frittata with Swiss Cheese & Cauliflower Review

Trader Joe's Egg Frittata with Swiss Cheese & Cauliflower

France has quiche. Mexico has huevos rancheros. And Italy has frittatas. We’re always happy to try frozen egg dishes, regardless of their country of origin, and we’re glad that Trader Joe’s has made it easier to enjoy this classic Italian treat. Trader Joe’s Egg Frittata with Swiss Cheese & Cauliflower is a very tasty way to start out your morning!

While there are microwave instructions on the box, we think a dish like this needs to be cooked in the oven. Thankfully, it doesn’t take too long to cook up our two frittatas. After fifteen minutes in the oven, these babies will be nicely browned and ready to eat!

Frittata essentially means “fried.” As long as a frittata includes eggs, and those eggs are properly cooked, you can pair it with all kinds of ingredients. Trader Joe’s has opted for Swiss cheese, cauliflower, and fried onions. The Swiss cheese is slightly sweet and creamy, and it complements the savory onions perfectly. The chunks of cauliflower add some interesting texture to the dish; we love the way it pairs with the fluffy eggs.

Trader Joe’s says that one box is a single serving, and we think they’re dead on here. These little frittatas are cute, but they’re also small, and a single frittata isn’t going to do much to fill you up at a breakfast time. Thankfully, you won’t have to feel guilty if you polish off a box yourself. Combined, both frittatas contain just 270 calories. With a whopping 25 grams of protein, two frittatas should leave you feeling full for a while.

If you’re in the mood for Italian, but don’t want to have pizza or pasta for breakfast, why not try Trader Joe’s Egg Frittata with Swiss Cheese & Cauliflower? These frittatas are delicious, and they’re a breeze to make. You could even get creative and use a frittata as a patty in an egg sandwich! No matter how you eat these fried eggs, you’re sure to enjoy them.
