Typically, pizzas are made with some sort of red sauce. While it’s usually a basic tomato sauce, we tend to love pizzas with a slightly spicier sauce. Of course, we also love pizzas that go in the opposite direction and use a nice, creamy white sauce. If you’re craving white sauce pizza, you’ll be glad to know that Lunds & Byerlys Asiago Artichoke Pizza is made with Alfredo sauce.
Before we get into our review, we should probably explain what Lunds & Byerlys is. It’s the store brand for a Minnesota-based grocery chain, which means you might not be able to get it if you’re outside a specific region in Minnesota. However, if you are in the area, we strongly suggest checking their frozen food line out.
Occasionally, we find the recommended cook times on frozen pizzas to be slightly inaccurate. Thankfully, these instructions were right on the money. After about 15 minutes in a 375-degree oven, our pizza was perfectly browned and ready to eat.
There was some debate among our staffers about how well the artichokes worked on the pizza. Some of us thought they were a little too crunchy, while others thought that the crunch level was perfect. Thankfully, we all agreed that the rest of the pizza was delicious.
The thin crust had the perfect level of crispiness when was took it out of the oven. The asiago cheese is rich and has a slightly sour flavor that really compliments the artichoke hearts. Add an extra-creamy sauce, and you have a decadent and delicious pizza. According to Lunds & Byerlys, there are four servings here, but two people could easily polish this off on their own.
If you’re looking for a tasty frozen pizza with white sauce, and you happen to be in the Minnesota area, you’ll definitely want to pick up a Lunds & Byerlys Asiago Artichoke Pizza. We can’t guarantee that you’ll love the artichokes, but the cheese-and-sauce combination is to die for. This is a restaurant-quality pizza that we’d love to try again.
