Jimmy Dean Delights - Canadian Bacon, Egg White & Cheese Honey Wheat English Muffin Breakfast Sandwiches

There’s nothing quite like getting up at sunrise, brewing up a cup of coffee, and munching on a breakfast sandwich. In our opinion, this is one of the best ways to start off a day. Of course, this morning plan requires having tasty breakfast sandwiches on hand. Since we eat quite a few breakfast sandwiches here at Freezer Meal Frenzy, we like to keep a few in our freezer for such occasions.

Today we’re checking out something with an extremely long title: the Canadian Bacon, Egg White & Cheese Honey Wheat English Muffin Breakfast Sandwiches, which are part of Jimmy Dean’s Delights line of breakfast foods.

Four of these breakfast sandwiches come in a box, and each one is individually wrapped so you can eat one at a time.

You can store these in the freezer if you’d like, but we recommend sticking them in the refrigerator to thaw out overnight if you plan on eating one in the morning. They’re faster to cook that way. (You can see the full cooking instructions for these at the bottom of this article.)

So let’s dig in. What exactly are you getting here? Well, it starts with a honey wheat english muffin, then piles on some egg white, Canadian bacon, and American cheese. These are pretty standard, as far as breakfast sandwiches go.

So let’s start with the english muffin. These sandwiches don’t have oven instructions, so they’re clearly designed to be cooked in the microwave. The unfortunate thing is that this leaves the english muffins a little soggy, yet still kind of tough to bite through. It’s not a great consistency. The honey wheat flavor is a great choice for this sandwich, but the consistency is a bit off.

The egg white patty is on point here. Obviously, it has less flavor than a yellow egg patty would, but it also contains fewer calories. It also soaks up some of the juices from the Canadian bacon, which gives it a flavor boost.

And the Canadian bacon is really where the flavor is in this sandwich. It has a ham flavor with a bit of sweetness to it. Even though it’s just a thin slice, you can taste it through the egg and english muffin.

The cheese here is American, which is not what we’d have picked. We really like a sharp yellow cheddar or a swiss or provolone for these types of sandwiches — American cheese just tastes so fake and processed. If you pull the sandwich apart, you can clearly see how low-quality the cheese is. It almost looks fake.

If you stick with a single sandwich, you’re going to be sitting pretty at 230 calories (45 from fat) and 690 mg of sodium. Calorie-wise, you could probably justify a second sandwich, but the sodium is pretty darn high. If it’s one of those two-sandwich mornings, be sure to keep this in mind.

The Jimmy Dean Canadian Bacon, Egg White & Cheese Honey Wheat English Muffin Breakfast Sandwiches are just kind of alright. They’re not the amazing breakfast sandwiches we were hoping for (they certainly don’t hold a candle to the Sweet Earth Benevolent Bacon, Egg, Cheddar Farmstand Breakfast Sandwich), but they’ll do in a pinch if you’ve got a cup of joe that’s just calling out to be paired with a breakfast sandwich.
