Jimmy Dean Sausage Biscuit Snack Size Sandwiches Review

Jimmy Dean Sausage Biscuit Snack Size Sandwiches

It’s no secret that we love breakfast sandwiches here at Freezer Meal Frenzy, so getting to try the Jimmy Dean line of frozen breakfast food has been quite a pleasure (even if not everything in that line is great).

Today we’re going to try something a little bit cuter than your average breakfast food — the Jimmy Dean Sausage Biscuit Snack Size Sandwiches. These little guys might not fill a hungry belly, but they’re certainly fun to look at (and even more fun to eat)!

These sandwiches come wrapped in packs of two. The packs are all connected, but they have perforations so you can break them apart pretty easily. We find this to be a very convenient solution to storage, as these are really easy to stock in a fridge or freezer, and it’s simple to just pull off a two-pack and run out the door.

Before you heat these, you’ll want to thaw them in the fridge overnight. The box isn’t completely clear about this, but there are no instructions for cooking these from the freezer. The good news is that a duo of thawed sandwiches will take you less than a minute to heat up. As we mentioned earlier, these really are grab-and-go treats. Just keep in mind that you shouldn’t keep these in the fridge for more than a week. (You can read the full cooking instructions in the package scans at the bottom of this article.)

One thing we should point out is that these are basic sandwiches. There are no veggies, sauce, or even cheese on these — they’re just sausage patties on tiny little biscuits.

Even so, they taste great. The sausage is especially good — it’s got a savory flavor with some subtle sweetness. The biscuit also has a little bit of sweetness to it, and this really brings out the flavor of the sausage. It’s a great combo.

One complaint we have is that the biscuits have a little bit of a strange consistency. Biscuits tend to be a little dry and floury by nature, but the moisture of the sausage in the microwave turns it into a bit of a mush. This is sort of a nitpick, as it’s certainly not enough to ruin these sandwiches, but it does make the eating experience feel a little odd.

If you’re watching your calories, you might need to skip these. A set of two sandwiches contains 340 calories (220 from fat) and 640 mg of sodium. You’re going to be tempted to eat two packs at a time because these really aren’t that filling, but that makes these numbers even worse. These definitely aren’t designed for dieters.

The Jimmy Dean Sausage Biscuit Snack Size Sandwiches are great-tasting and easy to make. Sure, this is no gourmet breakfast, but if you’re the sort of person who wants a quick breakfast as you’re trying to rush out the door in the morning, these sandwiches will do quite nicely.
