Marie Callender’s Fettuccini with Chicken & Broccoli (Meal for Two) Review

Marie Callender's Fettuccini with Chicken & Broccoli (Meal for Two)

Sometimes a single-serve meal just isn’t enough. For example, you might be trying to get multiple meals out of one box of food, or even serving multiple people at once. For such occasions, Marie Callender’s has created the Meals for Two line (also referred to as Meals to Share).

Today, we’re going to take a dive into the Marie Callender’s Fettuccini with Chicken & Broccoli to see what we think. We’re huge fans of fettuccini, so we’re really excited about this.

Before we eat, though, we must heat — and this sucker is a doozy in that department. You could go with the microwave, which will take you just under 15 minutes, or you could do what we did and cook this in the oven, which will take you more than an hour. Either way, this is not a fast item to cook.

Unfortunately, after all that cook time, this dish just isn’t all that good. The chicken, for example, is weirdly dried-out and stale-tasting. At one point, we even found a piece of cartilage in the chicken, which is pretty gross.

The sauce could have saved this, but it’s just not very good. It has what one of our staffers referred to as a “flour-y” taste, and another complained that it tasted subtly of mashed potatoes. That’s just not a good taste for a fettuccini dish.

There are some pieces of broccoli mixed in, but they actually make this dish worse. Some really fresh broccoli would have been great here, but this stuff is old and soggy. It’s just not good.

If you do what the package recommends, you’ll eat half a tray as a meal. The image above shows what that serving size looks like in a serving dish. If you eat this much, you’ll end up taking in 550 calories (270 from fat) and 990 mg of sodium. This is clearly not a meal for dieters. And Heaven forbid you eat the whole thing at once, yikes!

The Marie Callender’s Fettuccini with Chicken & Broccoli proves that even fettuccini can be screwed up. This dish just isn’t very good. We were so hopeful for this one, but we ended up disappointed.
