Trader Joe’s Mushroom Ravioli with Mushroom Truffle Sauce Review

Trader Joe's Mushroom Ravioli with Mushroom Truffle Sauce

Meat-filled ravioli is incredibly popular, but vegetarian ravioli options aren’t at all unusual. In Italy, vegetarian ravioli is the standard; meat is usually served as a side or as another course in a massive meal. If you’re looking for some meat-free ravioli options, Trader Joe’s Mushroom Ravioli with Mushroom Truffle Sauce is a smart choice.

Making this dish requires a little more involvement than your average Trader Joe’s meal, but it’s still pretty low effort. You’ll want to toss it in a pan along with some water, keep it covered, and stir every few minutes. Eventually, you’ll want to remove the cover and continue to stir and cook the ravioli until everything has thawed and the sauce has thickened up nicely.

As the name implies, this dish is bursting to the brim with mushrooms. The fresh-made ravioli noodles are stuffed with a blend of mushrooms and ricotta cheese. The pasta is covered in a thick, flavorful mushroom broth, and within that broth, you’ll find big juicy chunks of both Porcini and Champignon mushrooms. It might sound like a bit much — and it kind of is — but flavor-wise, it’s absolutely incredible. Biting into these ravioli noodles is incredible, especially if you can get a mushroom on your fork too.

Even though this ravioli dish tastes amazing, we do have one complaint about it: it’s incredibly rich. While Trader Joe’s says that there are three servings here, the portion size is small enough that a single person can easily polish off a bowl. You might enjoy downing a decadent bowl of ravioli in the moment, but if you’re like us, you and your stomach will regret that choice later.

If you can bring yourself to split the package with someone else, Trader Joe’s Mushroom Ravioli with Mushroom Truffle Sauce is one of the tastiest TJ’s dishes we’ve tried. It won’t please mushroom haters, but it wasn’t made for them. The meaty mushrooms and creamy truffle sauce are for mushroom lovers only.

These ravs are great! The review is good, but I cook them the lazy way and they turn out perfectly: I put 4 ravs in a bowl with 4 pieces of truffle sauce. I microwave them covered for 4 min. I then stir them up and microwave for another 30 seconds. Done! Delicious.
