Archer Farms Hawaiian-Style Self-Rising Crust Pizza Review

Archer Farms Hawaiian-Style Self-Rising Crust Pizza

If you spend a lot of time at Target, you’re probably really familiar with the Archer Farms brand. Archer Farms, you see, is a Target-exclusive food brand, which includes a pretty hefty line of frozen food. We’ve been pretty happy with their omelette cup selection, and we’re definitely excited to test out more of what they have to offer.

We’ve been eyeballing their frozen pizzas for a while now, and today we’re finally going to dig into one. We’re checking out the Archer Farms Hawaiian-Style Self-Rising Crust Pizza.

This is a rising crust pizza, and the crust ends up pretty thick. We’d say the crust is very comparable to a DiGiorno rising crust pizza. As for the sauce, we find it to be a bit too sweet — it reminds us a lot of a Prego pasta sauce. A Spicier sauce would have actually been really good here.

In the heated “pineapple on pizza” debate, we’re very much on the “yes” side. We love pineapple on pizza. So this particular pizza actually seems a little light on pineapple for our personal tastes. What’s here, however, is quite good. This is some seriously juicy and flavorful pineapple.

The Canadian bacon comes in thick, pink chunks, and like the sauce, it’s surprisingly sweet. This whole pizza is just a little too sweet for us. This could have easily been fixed if the Canadian bacon were a bit saltier, but what’s here is really sweet for a non-dessert pizza.

But we don’t want to give the impression that we don’t like this. Quite the opposite, in fact. We really like this pizza; we just find the sweetness to be a little bit too much for us.

The box considers one serving to be 1/6 of the pizza, which is ridiculous. That’s like a slice and a half. We’re pretty sure you’re going to cook this up and split it between two people (which is what we did). So the 290 calories (80 from fat) and 640 mg of sodium becomes 870 calories (240 from fat) and 1,920 mg of sodium. Holy wow! You probably don’t want to eat one of these every day.

The Archer Farms Hawaiian-Style Self-Rising Crust Pizza is a little too sweet for a lunchtime pizza, but we still really enjoy it. We think it would be better with a spicier sauce and some saltier Canadian bacon, but it’s still pretty tasty as is.
