Morningstar Farms Veggie Classics Popcorn Chik’n Review

Morningstar Farms Veggie Classics Popcorn Chik'n

There are plenty of meat substitutes our staffers enjoy, but we’re especially partial to faux chicken. For whatever reason, it seems easier to mimic the taste of chicken than other meats, especially when you add breading Morningstar Farms makes some of our favorite meatless products, which is why we’ve been eager to sample the Morningstar Farms Veggie Classics Popcorn Chik’n for a while now.

It’s possible to cook these chik’n bites in the microwave, but we opted to take the longer approach and heat them in the oven. The process is pretty simple; just heat them for five minutes, flip them over, then let them cook for five minutes more. If you’re like us, you might want to heat up some frozen fries at the same time so you have a complete meal!

You might not be able to tell in the picture above, but this chik’n is absolutely tiny — each piece is about the size of a marble. Morningstar Farms says that 12 pieces count as a serving, and that sounds about right to us. We’d say that 12 pieces chik’n are equivalent to about four Morningstar Chik’n Nuggets (which, incidentally, are one of our favorites).

Like the nuggets, this faux chicken is absolutely delicious. It might not taste exactly like the real deal, but it’s pretty darn close, especially if you’re dipping your chik’n in the sauce of your choice. Morningstar Farms hits it out of the park in both the taste and texture department. The breading is appropriately crispy, and the meatless chik’n on the inside is actually pretty juicy.

Morningstar Farms Veggie Classics Popcorn Chik’n is an incredible meat substitute. Even if you eat meat, we think you’ll find these chik’n bites to be absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for a quick, easy, and surprisingly low-calorie meal, just pair this popcorn chik’n with a side dish. At just 200 calories per serving, you can easily build a healthy dinner around this product.
