Trader Joe’s Jingle Jangle Ice Cream Review

Trader Joe's Jingle Jangle Ice Cream

In the spirit of the holidays, Trader Joe’s has released another batch of sweet treats for holiday eats. While ice cream might seem like an odd choice for winter festivities, those crazy food wizards at Trader Joe’s have gone ahead and put together a holly-jolly batch of the stuff for curious customers to try: the Trader Joe’s Jingle Jangle Ice Cream.

So, here’s a little bit of context for this frozen treat: Trader Joe’s released something called Jingle Jangle a while back. This was an assortment of chocolate-covered pretzels, peanut-butter cups, red candies (basically their version of red M&Ms), chocolate-covered caramel popcorn, and broken-up bits of Joe-Joe’s cookies. All of this came in a tin that makes a rattle sound when you shake it. Trader Joe’s refers to this sound as “jingle jangle,” though we’d say it sounds more like a “shucka shucka.” Of course, the terms “shucka shucka” is completely devoid of holiday spirit, so Jingle Jangle it is.

The core gimmick of the frozen treat we’re reviewing today is to take a whole bunch of that Jingle Jangle candy and mix it into a batch of ice cream.

Alright, enough with the history lesson! Let’s dive in!

Trader Joe's Jingle Jangle Ice Cream

For starters, the ice cream here is a simple vanilla, but it’s creamy and sweet and oh-so-wonderful-tasting. Add in the chipped chocolate chunks and you’ve already got yourself a perfectly delicious dessert.

But then there are the mix-ins. The pretzels are a nice salty contrast to the sweetness of the ice cream, and the peanut-butter cups are a rare-but-wonderful treasure. The real joy, however, is finding one of the red candies. We only found three our four in our entire carton, but their presence tends to be marked with a red patch of ice cream so they’re hard to miss.

The Trader Joe’s Jingle Jangle Ice Cream won’t warm your belly after a night out in the cold, but it does make a lovely treat to sweeten things up as you sit next to a warm fire. This is one seriously craveable batch of ice cream, and we’re already planning another trip to Trader Joe’s to pick up some more before it’s all gone!
