Whether you eat them as an appetizer or a side dish, onion rings are a food that’s easy to love. There’s just something about fried, savory onions that’s incredibly satisfying. We haven’t yet reviewed many frozen onion rings at Freezer Meal Frenzy, which is why we were so excited to spot the Alexia Crispy Onion Rings in the freezer aisle at our local Target store.
According to the package instructions, cooking the entire back of onion rings should take somewhere between 15 and 18 minutes. Since we weren’t hungry for a whole bag, we only heated them for about 12 minutes, and we could tell our food was ready to come out of the oven by the scent alone. You can actually smell the crispy onion rings from a different room!
Usually, we can get several servings out of a bag of Alexia fries. The bag for these onion rings, however, is a little less packed. The picture below shows about half a bag.
That’s not to say that Alexia is stingy with their onion rings; the rings are pretty big. According to Alexia, five onion rings equal one serving. That’s probably reasonable, but with a treat as tasty as this, stopping at five rings won’t be easy.
Our onion rings were perfectly crispy when they came out of the oven, even though we cooked them for less than the recommended time. We typically dip Alexia fries in a sauce, but these onion rings were so good we didn’t need anything else. These are restaurant-quality onion rings, and enjoying them at home is a real treat. They’re basic, but they’re everything we want in an onion ring. They’re crunchy on the outside, and the onions inside taste amazing.
The Alexia Crispy Onion Rings are one of our new favorite frozen treats. Even though a bag won’t last for long, this is a snack we can see ourselves enjoying again and again. The next time we’re craving onion rings, this is what we’re going to look for!
