DiGiorno Pepperoni Crispy Pan Pizza Review

DiGiorno Pepperoni Crispy Pan Pizza

The typical frozen pizza is a hand-tossed affair. While we’re totally cool with that, we also enjoy mixing things up from time to time. This is why we’re especially excited to try the DiGiorno Pepperoni Crispy Pan Pizza.

Now, we’ve actually reviewed the cheese version of this pizza quite some time ago. We thought it was quite delicious back then, so we’re pretty sure we’re going to love the pepperoni version as well. Of course, there’s only one way to be sure — we need to eat some of it!

First, we need to point out that this is not a microwavable pizza. This won’t even fit into a normal microwave — it’s huge. Thankfully, it actually comes in a pan that you can cook it in, which is convenient and lovely. (If you want to see the full cooking instructions, check out our package scans at the bottom of this frozen pizza review.)

DiGiorno Pepperoni Crispy Pan Pizza

If you’re used to regular frozen pizza, you might be surprised by how light this is. When you pick up the box, it doesn’t feel like it weighs very much considering how big it is. That’s because the crust is thick and spongy. It also has a crispy outer portion that crackles when you bite into it, which is quite satisfying.

The crust is the one major difference from a typical DiGiorno pizza. This still has the same great sauce and the rich, flavorful pepperoni of its hand-tossed brethren. We do wish there were a little more cheese on this, as the thicker crust does feel like it justifies more cheese, but it still tastes very good regardless.

The box considers 1/5 of the pizza to be a serving. While round pizzas are difficult to cut into fifths, it’s quite easy to cut a rectangular pizza into ten rectangles and consider two to be a serving.

If you stick with the box’s recommended serving size, you’ll be downing 430 calories and 620 mg of sodium. Obviously, if you eat more than that, those numbers start to grow pretty fast. And even at a single serving, this is no diet food.

The DiGiorno Pepperoni Crispy Pan Pizza is pretty much exactly what you’d expect: a thicker, fluffier version of DiGiorno’s delicious pepperoni pizza. If that sounds good to you, you’re probably going to enjoy this quite a bit. If that doesn’t sound good to you, well, we can’t even imagine what sort of life you live. Who doesn’t like DiGiorno?
