Tyson Any’tizers Honey BBQ Flavored Boneless Chicken Bites Review

Tyson Any'tizers Honey BBQ Flavored Boneless Chicken Bites

When it comes to frozen chicken bites (and nuggets), Tyson is one of the kings of the freezer aisle. People seem to love these like crazy, yet here at Freezer Meal Frenzy, we’ve been a bit negligent in our coverage of Tyson’s offerings. Well, that changes today, folks. Today we’re going to be reviewing the Tyson Any’tizers Honey BBQ Flavored Boneless Chicken Bites.

While you can certainly cook these in the microwave if you’d like to, we opted for the oven, which is Tyson’s preferred method. We think this will get the best results. (If you want to see the full cooking instructions, check out our package scans at the bottom of this review.)

When we took these out of the oven, we were actually a bit surprised by the color. Instead of the dark reddish brown color we expect from BBQ wings (which is shown on the package), we ended up with a plate that almost looks like a shinier version of buffalo wings.

That’s because the sauce portion isn’t as generous as advertised. It tastes great — it’s a really sweet BBQ sauce with a little bit of zing to it — but it’s just spread on the chicken pretty thinly. You might actually want to opt for an additional dipping sauce (we midwesterners think these taste great when dipped in ranch dressing).

That said, we can see why people love Tyson’s chicken offerings so much. The breading has a really great consistency, and the white meat chicken is nice and juicy. We already said this before, but despite the stinginess of the sauce portion, it tastes really, really good. These are high-quality chicken bites.

The calorie count is a bit high, since there are supposedly eight servings per bag. For reference, the image we show above is about half a bag — there are four servings on that plate. That means the respectable 210 calories (80 from fat) becomes 840 calories (320 from fat) if you eat half a bag. While that’s a pretty huge serving, even half the amount shown in our image would contain 420 calories (160 from fat). And even two full servings of this seems like a pretty small amount to us. You might want to consider skipping these chicken bites altogether if you’re a strict dieter.

For everyone else, however, the Tyson Any’tizers Honey BBQ Flavored Boneless Chicken Bites are some really great chicken chunks, though they could use a little more sauce to really drive them home. Still, the quality is high and the flavor is delicious. If you add a dipping sauce, these are really satisfying to eat.
