PF Chang’s Home Menu Pork Dumplings Review

PF Chang's Home Menu Pork Dumplings Review

We reviewed the PF Chang’s Home Menu Chicken Dumplings a while back. When we first picked them up, we weren’t sure we’d like them much, but we ended up loving them to pieces. So we’re pretty excited to be checking out the pork version — yes, today we’re reviewing the PF Chang’s Home Menu Pork Dumplings (which their website refers to as “Signature Pork Dumplings”).

Just like the chicken version, these dumplings take a little bit of work to cook. These won’t take you hours to prepare or anything; they’re just slightly more work than the average frozen meal. If you want to read the entire process, check out the package scans at the bottom of this review.

After all that skillet business is finished, you’ll have yourself a plate of tasty-looking pork dumplings with a packet of lovely sauce.

Now, we have to admit that we burned ours a little bit. As you can see in the image below, we ended up blackening our dumplings a bit in places. However, they still turned out quite good.

It’s difficult for us to say which version of these dumplings we like better, the chicken or the pork. With the pork, you get a little bit of sweetness on top of the added ginger and sugar, and it contrasts really nicely with the savory soy sauce. So pork might be the slightly better choice here, but both versions are absolutely delicious.

These have the same shells as the chicken version, which means they’re equally satisfying to bite into. We really love the whole combination here, from the shells to the meat to the sauce. These really are fantastic.

The box considers three dumplings and two spoonfuls of sauce to be a serving, but we all know you’ll probably eat the full box in a sitting. If you have more self-control than we do, you’re looking at 170 calories and 590 mg of sodium per serving. If you’re anything like us, though, you’ll eat all of your dumplings and end up consuming 440 calories and 1,570 mg of sodium. These dumplings are quite the temptation, so you might want to think twice before stocking your entire freezer full of them.

The PF Chang’s Home Menu Pork Dumplings are absolutely wonderful, and we might even enjoy these slightly more than the chicken version. Still, both versions are must-tries if you’re into frozen Asian-inspired meals. And since you’re reading Freezer Meal Frenzy, we already assume that you’re into that stuff!
