Chicken is an incredibly versatile protein. You’ll find it in everything from pasta dishes to Asian delights, and don’t forget everybody’s favorite snack: the chicken nugget. Today, we’re using chicken to make sandwiches, since we’re reviewing the Tyson Fully Cooked & Breaded Chicken Patties.
According to the instructions on the bag, you can heat these in the oven or a microwave. We opted for the oven, because we had some time to kill and we thought it would make for better patties. There’s not much to these, but we don’t really expect chicken patties to be complex. Everything we hope for is present here: you’ve got a high-quality chicken breast coated in a lovely breading. While chicken breast isn’t the most flavorful meat by default, the breading here does a lot of work — it has a subtle crunch to it, and the flavor is surprisingly good. We don’t know what else we could ask for from a chicken patty.
There are surely hundreds of ways to dress up a chicken sandwich, but we’re simple folks and we simply plopped our patty on a bun and added some lettuce and mayo. This worked for us, and we think the quality of the chicken patty was enough to make this a tasty sandwich without needing to get all fancied up.
Each patty contains about 200 calories (120 from fat) and 400 mg of sodium. This isn’t too bad if you eat a single patty, but keep in mind that these numbers can multiply very quickly if you eat multiple patties and dress up your sandwiches with condiments. The bag contains ten patties, so you’re given the option to eat multiple sandwiches in a sitting if you’d like.
The Tyson Fully Cooked & Breaded Chicken Patties are simple but great. These make for excellent chicken sandwiches, and we’re sure there are dozens of other things you could use these for (chicken tacos, anyone?) If you’re a fan of chicken sandwiches, you really should have a bag of these bad boys chilling in your freezer.
