When it comes to mimicking the taste of real meat, there aren’t many grocery store brands that can compare to Beyond. We’re big fans of the brand’s burgers, and Beyond sausages are absolutely delicious. So when we spotted the Beyond Meat Spicy Beyond Breakfast Sausage Plant-Based Patties, we were confident they would be an office hit.
It’s pretty easy to heat these patties up, but you might not want to follow the cooking instructions exactly. Beyond says that the patties should be cooked for approximately two minutes on each side, or between 4-5 minutes in total. However, our patties were ready to flip over after about a minute and a half. If we’d let them cook for any longer, they would have wound up burnt.
Although none of Beyond’s products taste exactly like real meat, these patties are pretty convincing. Some vegetarian meatless products have an earth aftertaste, but you won’t find that here. These patties are also well-seasoned, which makes them taste more like the real deal. We wouldn’t describe them as spicy, exactly, but they’re far from bland.
We’ve had dry meatless sausage patties in the past, but these patties are surprisingly juicy. Since the patties are already seasoned with smoked paprika and other spices, we’d advise against pairing them with ketchup or another type of sauce. We do think that the patties would be the perfect compliment for eggs or a tofu scramble.
The Beyond Meat Spicy Beyond Breakfast Sausage Plant-Based Patties prove that Beyond is one of the best brands for vegetarians and vegans.
