Life Cuisine Meatlovers Cauliflower Pizza Bowl Review

Life Cuisine Meatlovers Cauliflower Pizza

For some reason, we tend to associate cauliflower with vegetarian meals. Many of the cauliflower-based meals we’ve tasted here at Freezer Meal Frenzy have been made for vegetarians, so it’s hard to shake the association. We need to start thinking outisde the box, however, since products like the Life Cuisine Meatlovers Cauliflower Pizza Bowl (by Lean Cuisine) exist. This is advertised as a cauliflower bowl for meat lovers, and it seems to be made for those looking to reduce their carb intake.

So let’s dig in and find out what this frozen cauliflower bowl is all about.

First of all, we should point out that this takes a bit longer to cook than your average Lean Cuisine meal. You’ll have to microwave this for a total of six and a half minutes, which means you might not want to pack this as a work lunch if your workplace cafeteria has long waits at the microwave. As you might expect, this is basically a pizza mac bowl without the pasta. Instead, a majority of this meal is cauliflower. The cauliflower doesn’t actually have a ton of flavor here, which is good if you’re not a fan of the stuff, but it might be disappointing for cauliflower lovers.

Meat lovers might be disappointed as well, since the meat portion is pretty scant for a dish with the word Meatlovers in the title. What is here, though, is a lovely blend of sausage and pepperoni. The flavor is really great, and both the sausage and pepperoni have a nice spicy bite to them.

The tomato sauce really takes over the flavor profile, as this entire meal is completely slathered in it. It’s a decent-tasting red sauce, with a slightly acidic flavor that complements the meat portion quite well. It’s also got a bit of mozzarella cheese mixed in, which sort of glues the cauliflower chunks together and adds a nice, stretchy consistency to the whole thing.

This might be low in carbs (at 19 g), but it’s not all that low in calories or sodium. Eating this meal will run you 430 calories and 830 mg of sodium. This isn’t a meal for calorie-counting dieters, but it might be good for those trying to slash their carb intake.

The Life Cuisine Meatlovers Cauliflower Pizza Bowl somehow manages to be big on pizza flavor but light on cauliflower and meat flavor. For pizza lovers looking to reduce their carb intake, this might be a grand treat. However, if you’re looking for something meaty, or something that tastes richly of cauliflower, you might want to look elsewhere.
