Red’s Meat Lovers Egg, Sausage & Bacon Burrito Review

Red's Meat Lovers Egg, Sausage & Bacon Burrito

If you’re a Freezer Meal Frenzy super fan, you might know that this website originally started as a frozen burrito review site (before very quickly growing beyond that). This means we have a long, long history of eating and reviewing frozen burritos. Sometimes it feels like we’ve tried every single one that exists. We know this isn’t true, but it can certainly feel that way when we visit the freezer aisle at our local grocery store and can’t find anything we haven’t tried.

But that’s not always the case. In fact, the last time we visited the grocery store, we discovered the Red’s Meat Lover’s Egg, Sausage & Bacon Burrito, which we actually hadn’t tried before. So today is a good day, folks! Today we’re going to review the Red’s Meat Lover’s Breakfast Burrito.

The cooking process for Red’s burritos tends to be a little bit complicated. You’ll have to thaw the burrito in the microwave for about a minute, then place it on a greased pan and pop it into the oven for about 12 minutes. We actually gave ours a little extra time to produce a lovely crispy shell, but following the instructions to the letter should have the shell end up a little softer than what you see in the image below. The filling is lovely. Red’s has a way of delivering tasty, creamy filling that satisfies cheese fanatics, and this is no exception. The creaminess is great, and there are hints of garlic and peppers to dial up the flavor. It all comes together to make a really satisfying flavor profile.

Then there’s the sausage and eggs. We’d estimate that the sausage and egg portions are close to equal inside this, which means this has more sausage than your average frozen burrito. It’s a tasty sausage too, with a nice bite to it. Of course, the bacon portion isn’t as well-represented as the sausage, but when we pulled this sucker apart, we definitely found some chunks of bacon inside.

The eggs are nothing special, but there’s also nothing wrong with them either. They’re not runny or soggy, and they absorb a lot of flavor from the creamy cheese sauce. They don’t have a lot of flavor on their own, but that doesn’t really matter because they still end up tasting great. That sauce is quite a workhorse!

One burrito contains 380 calories and 650 mg of sodium, which is kind of a lot considering the size of this burrito. We didn’t find this to be very filling. If you end up guzzling an absurd amount of coffee after eating this, like we did, you might be okay just having one burrito for breakfast. But if you like to really feast for the first meal of the day, this is going to leave you feeling a bit hungry.

The Red’s Meat Lover’s Breakfast Burrito is yet another winner in a long line of delicious frozen burritos. While the bacon portion might not be as substantial as you’d expect from a burrito with “Meat Lover’s” in the title, this is still one very delicious breakfast food.
