Amy’s Broccoli & Cheddar Bake Review

Amy's Broccoli & Cheddar Bake

Although Amy’s Kitchen is known for offering healthy vegetarian freezer meals, they also have a few comfort dishes on their menu. Just like the 3 Cheese Kale Bake (read that review here), the Broccoli & Cheddar Bake is higher in fat and calories than the standard Amy’s dish, but it offers plenty of flavor to make up for that.

So what sets this apart from the 3 Cheese Kale Bake? Not much. While this dish skips the Monterrey jack and Parmesan cheeses, the rest of the ingredients are pretty similar. Both dishes are creamy and loaded with cheese, and both dishes use a delicious gluten-free pasta.

Using broccoli instead of kale doesn’t have a dramatic impact on the flavor of this meal. The broccoli has a little more crunch to it than the kale does, but when they’re covered in cheese, both of these vegetables taste the same. Although this dish is topped with a crunchy sunflower seed meal, the overall effect is pretty similar to the panko crumbs that top other Amy’s dishes.

If you’re looking for an alternative to the 3 Cheese Kale Bake, you’ll probably want to give this dish a pass; they’re extremely similar in taste and nutritional content. That said, if you’re a fan of these creamy, casserole-like comfort meals, then you are going to love dining on this Amy’s dish.
