Amy’s Cheese Pizza Rolls Review

Amy's Cheese Pizza Rolls

For those looking to relive a tiny slice of childhood, a return to the classic dish of pizza rolls is a good place to start. Believe it or not, Amy’s Kitchen has you covered here with their Cheese Pizza Snacks.

We tore open a package of these bad boys to find exactly a dozen pizza rolls inside. We’re not sure if every box contains exactly twelve, but we’re fairly certain you can expect to find approximately that much per box.

As a personal philosophy, we here at Freezer Meal Frenzy believe that pizza rolls need to be cooked in the oven, the Amy’s Kitchen version contains oven instructions directly on the box. One thing that happened to ours is that the cheese burst out of the shells during cooking to make a little bit of a mess. Of course, if you’ve ever cooked pizza rolls before, this should come as no surprise.

The crust has a nice powdery texture and a pleasant taste, which is fortunate because it dominates the flavor of this meal. We found ourselves wishing for a little more filling inside each shell.

When we did grab a fork to isolate some of the filling, we were surprised at how delicious the cheese tastes and how sweet the sauce is. This dish contains some pretty high-quality ingredients; it’s just a shame the ratio skews so heavily toward the crust.

One thing to take note of is that these surprisingly contain a few more calories than the most obvious of competitors, with 22o calories (80 from fat) per six rolls. The aforementioned competitor (Totino’s, in case you couldn’t guess) boasts 210 calories (70 from fat) per roll. We would argue that Amy’s taste better though, so perhaps the trade-off is worth it.
