We’ve had the chance to review some interesting frozen mac & cheese dishes on Freezer Meal Frenzy. Sweet Earth’s Pizza Mac & Cheese didn’t impress our taste buds, but it did win points for creativity. The Evol Truffle Mac & Cheese was unusually good for something you can prepare in the microwave. The Lean Cuisine Vermont White Cheddar Mac & Cheese is not particularly unusual, nor is it amazing. It’s just a basic, barebones macaroni and cheese, and that’s okay.
Lean Cuisine’s mac & cheese dish is the Kraft Dinner of frozen macaroni dishes. It doesn’t capture the taste of homemade mac, and it doesn’t taste like something you’d find at a restaurant either. It’s just a simple meal that you can prepare when you’re craving something cheesy.
The dish is a little bland, but it’s easy enough to spice it up; one of our reviewers likes to pair it with cayenne pepper. The texture of both the pasta and cheese are fine, if unremarkable. As long as you’re not a picky eater, this is a perfectly acceptable frozen meal. If you’re looking for a cheap and fast was to get your mac & cheese fix, you should grab this dish from the freezer aisle.
