Lean Cuisine Four Cheese Cannelloni Review

Lean Cuisine Four Cheese Cannelloni

Trying out a new frozen pasta is always a dangerous game. You’re never quite sure you’ll get a meal as scrumptious as it looks on the box or a soupy, freezer burned mess.

Lean Cuisine’s Four Cheese Cannelloni doesn’t hit either extreme, but it’s a surprisingly great-tasting meal.

When it first comes out of the microwave, the pasta shells are just swimming in sauce. Even once you let it thicken up a bit, the sauce-to-pasta ratio is way off. About 50% of this dish is pure sauce.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because the sauce tastes pretty alright. It has a sweet flavor with a little bite due to the added spices. We’re not sure what these spices are, but they remind us of pepper and oregano, so that’s a halfway decent guess.

It’s strange, though, that the folks at Lean Cuisine would drench this meal in sauce as if they’re trying to cover up the flavor of the pasta, because that’s the best part of this dish. The shells are filled with ricotta, parmesan, mozzarella, and romano cheeses, which is a delicious mix. You should almost drain a bunch of the sauce off the top before you eat it in order to enjoy the full flavor of the pasta and cheese mix.

Despite its flaws, Lean Cuisine’s Four Cheese Cannelloni is a pretty tasty dish. We’re just not sure why Lean Cuisine decided to dump so much sauce into it when that’s not even the best part of the meal.
