The gimmick behind Boomerang’s is that their “Aussie-inspired” pot pies are said to be so delicious that you’ll keep coming back for more — like a boomerang. Any company that makes a claim that bold had better back it up with some real quality products.
We’re pleased to announce that Boomerang’s Chicken & Mushroom Pie lives up to its marketing promise.
This frozen pot pie is meant to be cooked right in the box — though make sure you open one edge first — and it comes out of the microwave golden brown around the edges while the center of the crust remains a little bit gooey. The edges are a little tough to cut with a fork unless you apply quite a bit of pressure, but the rest of it is the perfect consistency for fork eating.
The filling is delicious, creamy vegetable stock with onions and mushrooms. We would have preferred more mushrooms, but we did find some pretty decent sized pieces of what we assume was portabella. Of course, there are big chunks of white meat chicken, which are a treat to bite into.
Ultimately, the Chicken & Mushroom Pie is a great frozen meal that we’re sure you’ll enjoy thoroughly.
So will we be returning to Boomerang’s lineup, like the boomerang the company was named for? We think so.
Note: According to Boomerang’s website, these pot pies come in packs of two, though we found them in single packages at our local Whole Foods.

My choice for the chicken and mushroom boomerang seemed a good choice for a quick meal, but I after heating in a 400 degree oven and sitting down to eat, it was not a good choice. The flacky pastry was the only thing that was somewhat good. How to improve: More vegetables. Less paste flavor. More flavor. More vegetable. Where was the chicken. Less paste flavor. Have I repeated myself on the obvious points why I will never buy this again. Please don’t enter me in the WIN FRee for a year.
Sincerly,
Janice Caper
