Lean Cuisine’s frozen pasta dishes tend to be pretty tasty. Their Lasagna with Meat Sauce is certainly one of the better frozen lasagnas we’ve tried, and their Four Cheese Cannelloni is delicious. So does the Spicy Penne Arrabbiata live up to the expectations set by its tasty peers?
To put it simply, yes, it does. But more than that, this might be the best frozen meal in Lean Cuisine’s entire pasta selection.
The sauce is where this dish really shines. It’s thick and chunky, and it has a bit of a kick to it (hence the “Spicy” in the title). And the taste is incredible. Close your eyes and you’ll swear you’re eating a home-cooked meal instead of something that spent five minutes in the microwave.
The organic pasta has a great texture, and it doesn’t get soggy like some of the other frozen pastas we’ve tried. It also doesn’t suffer from being crusty along the edges, which is another thing we’ve encountered. No, this pasta is just right.
And the whole thing is coated in a thin layer of parmesan.
With the Spicy Penne Arrabbiata, Lean Cuisine really knocked it out of the park. This is surely a frozen meal we’ll be returning to time and time again.
