Sweet Earth’s Farmstand line of breakfast sandwiches is the perfect thing for those looking for a small, quick frozen breakfast. They cook in a minute and a half, and every item in this line is vegetarian friendly. The “meats” used here are all vegetarian versions of real meats, and they are accompanied by cute names like Benevolent Bacon and Harmless Ham.
The Harmless Ham, Egg & Swiss falls right in line with it’s brethren, with both the vegetarian-frienliness and the cutesy name.
Its ingredients are packed between two pieces of flax bread, so when the sandwich comes out of the microwave, it retains a nice consistency without getting soggy. Note, however, that the bottom of the bun will get a little moist due to condensation on the plate.
The Harmless Ham is probably the least exciting part of this whole meal. It tastes very fake (non-vegetarians won’t be fooled for a second) and has almost a plastic consistency.
Thankfully, the bulk of the fillings here are claimed by the egg patty, which is delicious, and the whole thing is dripping with melted swiss. If the ham tastes a little weird, it doesn’t matter much, because its flavor gets drown out by the egg and cheese.
Ultimately, we prefer the Benevolent Bacon version of the Farmstand, but the Harmless Ham, Egg & Swiss might be our second favorite. It’s a tasty sandwich that heats up quickly, making it a great meal to scarf down when you’re in a hurry to get to work.
One thing that must be pointed out, however, is that this sandwich isn’t very filling, and it’s got a pretty high calorie count for a frozen meal that won’t fill you up. At 360 calories (150 from fat), you’ll likely be dissuaded from grabbing a second sandwich, even though they come two in a box.
