Lean Cuisine Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry Review

Lean Cuisine Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry

It must be incredibly difficult to make an Asian-inspired frozen dish work. We’ve come across some excellent choices, like Evol’s Ginger Udon Soy Noodles or Sweet Earth’s Korean Japchae. But, more often than not, our adventures into Asian-inspired territory end up disappointing us. And Lean Cuisine’s Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry is yet another disappointment.

As you can see from our photo below, the rice turns out mushy and soggy. Since this dish is mostly rice, that’s a pretty big problem that permeates every bite.

The chicken is a mixed bag. A few pieces were fine, but a lot of it was too watery, while a couple pieces were hard and almost crunchy with dehydrated gristle. The veggies are halfway decent, with the snap peas being the highlight and the carrots being barely even there. We’re told there’s pineapple in this dish, but we only managed to find one tiny piece.

The best part about this dish is the teriyaki sauce, and even that is mediocre at best.

It’s also gluten free, but there are better gluten-free meals on the market.

Lean Cuisine’s Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry is a meal that gets just about everything wrong. It could be vastly improved with some higher quality ingredients, but we’d suggest swapping out pretty much everything besides the spring peas and the sauce. And we’d like Lean Cuisine to throw some more pineapple in there while they’re at it.
