Healthy Choice seems to be pretty skilled at making low-calorie pasta dishes that don’t necessarily taste like diet food. For example, both the Four-Cheese Ravioli & Chicken Marinara and the Creamy Spinach & Tomato Linguine are quite good. So we had a pretty good idea of what to expect when we dove into the Chicken Margherita with Balsamic.
One of the more interesting things about Healthy Choice’s dishes is that they often come with a strainer built into the bowl so the sauce cooks separately from the rest of the dish.
Once you heat it up in the microwave, simply dump the contents of the strainer into the bowl where the sauce resides and stir.
This sauce is great. It’s made from raisin juice concentrate, balsamic vinegar, and oils. It doesn’t overpower the dish, but instead it subtly seeps into every bite. It has a sweetness to it that really rounds out this dish.
Of course, this causes the chicken especially to taste delicious. This is some of the best tasting chicken we’ve had in a frozen meal in quite some time. Plus, as you can see in our images above, this dish is loaded with tomatoes, which gives it a nice margarita flavor. Even the pasta tastes really good.
All of this weighs in at only 270 calories. There’s no guilt attached to this meal.
Healthy Choice’s Chicken Margherita with Balsamic is a top-notch dish for dieters. In fact, it’s so good that even non-dieters will be impressed.
