We’re huge fans of Devour’s frozen food line here at Freezer Meal Frenzy. Their Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese is a must-try, and their Bacon Topped Meatloaf with Smoky Garlic Mac & Cheese will blow your mind. So obviously we jumped at the chance to check out Devour’s Lasagna Alfredo with Bacon & Sausage.
This meal takes quite a while to heat up; the microwave instructions call for six and a half minutes. But Devour meals are usually worth the wait, and this is no exception. Before it even comes out of the microwave, it fills the air with a mouthwatering aroma.
As the name suggests, the concept here is to take a lasagna dish and replace the traditional red sauce with an alfredo sauce, then load it up with bacon and sausage. This formula proves to be a true winner.
The thing that makes this work so well is the high quality of the ingredients. The bacon is sweet and gristly, the sausage has a bit of kick to it, and the sauce is incredible. On top of all that, this meal is absolutely loaded with ricotta cheese.
The only part of this we didn’t love was the pasta itself. Even after six and a half minutes in the microwave, the ruffled edges are hard and dry. The middle portion is fine, but you might find yourself leaving behind edge pieces as you eat around them.
This meal is also going to be a problem for dieters. At 600 calories (a whopping 310 from fat), this is going to be off the table on all but the most lenient of cheat days. And even for those who aren’t on strict diets, this is probably a once-in-a-while treat, not an everyday meal.
If you can get past the calorie count, Devour’s Lasagna Alfredo with Sausage & Bacon is an incredible frozen meal that you should definitely try. In moderation, of course.
