We’ve tried quite a few Amy’s pizzas, from their Meatless Italian Sausage pizza to their Barbecue Pizza. However, we recently realized that we had never sampled their basic cheese pizza. We decided that we’d correct that as soon as possible. After all, we never say no to pizza, especially when that pizza is made with organic tomatoes and flour.
For a crispy crust, Amy’s suggests cooking this pizza directly on the oven rack. For a softer crust, they suggest placing the pizza on a baking sheet. We went with the latter option, and our crust wound up being pretty crispy regardless. No matter how you choose to cook this pizza, you’ll want to watch it closely while it’s in the oven.
On the back of the box, Amy’s says that this pizza is great for kids. While we obviously don’t have any young ones on the Freezer Meal Frenzy staff to verify it, we still have to agree with this assessment. This pizza reminds us a lot of the personal pizzas that restaurants serve on their kids’ menus. This isn’t anything fancy — it’s just a basic, no frills cheese pizza — but it tastes like it was freshly prepared. It’s hard to imagine a kid being disappointed with this dinner!
Adults, however, might be better served by a pizza that’s not quite so plain. We recommend Amy’s Pesto Pizza; it’s one of the best frozen pizzas we’ve tried! If you want a cheese pizza with a little more oomph to it, you could also try
DiGiorno’s Personal Four Cheese Pizza.
