Pierre Drive Thru Bacon Cheeseburger Review

Pierre Drive Thru Bacon Cheeseburger

The prospect of eating a microwavable cheeseburger sounds a bit odd to us (though we definitely can’t say we haven’t done it before). It’s the bun, really, that gives us pause — how do you do that properly in the microwave? Well, this didn’t deter Pierre Drive Thru from making the frozen Bacon Cheeseburger, and despite all odds, this is a pretty tasty burger.

Now, the image on the box is a little misleading, as this burger doesn’t come with fixings like lettuce and tomato, which are shown on the packaging. This is your barebones burger — just a patty, a bun, a slice of American cheese, and some bacon. We don’t think the lettuce and tomato would microwave well, so it’s probably better if they’re left off during the heating process, but if you like those things you should be aware that you’re going to have to add them yourself.

The bun — as we pointed out earlier — could really make or break this burger, but it actually comes out of the microwave better than you might expect. It’s not as soggy as a lot of buns would be after being microwaved, and we’re guessing that this is at least partially due to the powder coating the bun. This does have a powdery feel to it when you touch it — which might turn some people off, but we feel that a powdery bun is better than a soggy one. Plus, there are sesame seeds on the bun, which we really like.

It’s the beef patty, of course, that really steals the show here. It has a delicious, smoky flavor that we can’t help but love. In fact, this is some of the best frozen beef we’ve tasted here at Freezer Meal Frenzy.

The bacon doesn’t come in strips; it’s a round covering for the beef patty. This is a gristly, hammy bacon rather than a generic, dried out sliver of the stuff. We think it’s pretty good, though it pales in comparison to the beef patty. The American cheese sort of melts into it, giving it a little bit of a ham-and-cheese-melt vibe.

This is definitely not a diet-friendly item. It contains 450 calories (220 from fat), and that’s if you don’t add your own fixings to it. It’s also got 620 mg of sodium, which is pretty high considering the size of this burger.

The Pierre Drive Thru Bacon Cheeseburger is a marvel. We wish it were a bit larger, but the taste is incredible. We think you’re really going to like it!
