Freezer Meal Frenzy began with burrito reviews, and Sweet Earth was one of the brands that inspired us to start posting frozen burrito reviews. So as longtime fans of Sweet Earth’s burritos, we were pretty astonished to find some new varieties in the frozen food aisle of our local grocery store. No longer could we say we’d tried every burrito on Sweet Earth’s menu, because new ones had been added.
We set out immediately to try these new flavors and report our findings, starting with the Sweet Earth Brazilian Burrito.
This vegetarian-friendly burrito starts things off with black beans, brown rice, and Tuscan savory grounds. Now, those things are really just there to provide a hearty base for the more flavorful ingredients, like parsley, kale, rosemary, and organic mustard greens. When you cut open the burrito, you can clearly see that it’s loaded with green.
And that means it has an earthy flavor rather than a typical burrito flavor. You won’t find refried pinto beans in this burrito! That choice makes this an off-the-beaten-path treat for the more adventurous burrito-eaters out there.
For such a small burrito, this actually has more calories than we expected. At 330 calories (130 from fat), this ends up being one of Sweet Earth’s more calorie-loaded burritos (of course, it still weighs in at less than the Baja Breakfast Burrito). Since it probably won’t fill you up if you’re really hungry, you’ll want to either treat this as a snack or eat it as part of a greater meal.
The Sweet Earth Brazilian Burrito is a good choice for anyone looking for something a little more earthy than your average frozen burrito.
