Trader Joe’s Asparagus Risotto Review

Trader Joe's Asparagus Risotto

We’ve seen a lot of people raving about Trader Joe’s Asparagus Risotto. It frequently appears on lists of the best Trader Joe’s products, and most Trader Joe’s fans seem to agree that the dish is pretty great. At long last, the Freezer Meal Frenzy staff is trying this risotto for ourselves.

While the risotto can be cooked in the microwave, we chose to heat in in a skillet. Preparing the dish was extremely simple; we just threw it in a pan and stirred it for about 6 minutes. From there, we transferred it to a bowl and got ready to dig in!

This isn’t a complicated meal; it’s really just asparagus and rice with Parmesan cheese and a creamy sauce. That said, the dish isn’t lacking in flavor. The sauce has a wonderfully buttery taste, and the rice is cooked perfectly. The dish is a little on the salty side, but we still savored every last bite.

We’d say that the highlight of the dish is the asparagus. Frozen asparagus sometimes has an unappealing stringy texture to it, but this asparagus was slightly crisp. Plus, the velvety sauce was a great complement to it; we would have enjoyed this dish even if there was no risotto at all!

Trader Joe’s claims that there are three servings of risotto per bag. That might work if you’re serving the risotto as a side, but there’s really only enough to feed one person if you’re looking for a meal. Just be wary of the sodium levels if you’re making a dinner of this risotto; there are 1,200 mg of sodium per bag.

There’s a lot of hype around Trader Joe’s Asparagus Risotto, but it doesn’t disappoint. It’s a rich, creamy, indulgent comfort food that’s incredibly easy to prepare. This isn’t the sort of dish we can eat all the time, but it is something we’ll think about whenever we’re in the mood for a treat.
